Why a Tirupati Bird Festival?
Located at the edge of the Seshachalam Biosphere Reserve, Tirupati is home to incredible birdlife. Although the region is home to more than 200 species of birds, there have been few detailed explorations to record and monitor avian diversity.
Guided Bird and Nature Walks
Our naturalist guides will help you with local bird watching and ensure that you get the most from your experience. Suitable for beginners as well as experienced birders, you will witness an incredible diversity of birds from the Seshachalam landscape including the vulnerable species like Yellow-Throated Bulbul.
Workshops
The day will feature three workshops, conducted for small groups by invited experts from various parts of the country. The workshops will enable deeper interactions and learning about birds, their appearance and vocalisations, and how anyone can be a citizen scientist!
Talks
The talks at the festival offer the perfect opportunity to meet some of the scientists and avian experts in country and a chance to hear some of the most captivating stories from them. Sessions last between 15 to 45 minutes. All talks and events will take place at auditorium of Regional science centre, Tirupati which is located at magnificent foothills of Tirumala.

Workshops
Workshop 1: Be a citizen birder
For this bird festival, we are partnering with Nature Conservation Foundation & Bird Count India, to conduct workshops on bird monitoring & Ebird and taking birds to kids (for teachers). More information on the workshops can be found at https://birdcount.in/tag/workshop/

Workshop 2: Paper Chirrups - Bird art
Niharika Rajput, a practicing wildlife artist and a conservationist is doing a workshop on Hand built paper birds. Her ongoing projects are dealing with the subject of bird conservation in India and all over the world. You can find more information about at her at www.niharikarajput.com

Workshop 3: Listening to birds
Viral Joshi from IISER Tirupati will be leading a workshop on bird call recording. For his contribution towards bird studies in Gujarat and achievement of recording over 500 different bird calls in the country using his personally-invented recording equipment, Viral received Young Naturalist Award from Sanctuary Asia in 2015.
